Employment Law Update
For over a decade, Texas courts have struggled with the issue of enforceability of employer/employee non-compete agreements. In a recent case, the Texas Supreme Court interpreted the Covenants Not to Compete Act to make it easier for employers to enforce these agreements.

Jeff Patterson
The National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations underwent a number of revisions and updates for 2011.  It is crucial that litigators be up to date on these changes.  Jeff Patterson has been invited to speak about the latest version of NFPA 921 at this year's ACI Fire and Casualty Claims and Litigation Conference.  The conference will take place at the Flatotel in New York on April 26-27.

Texting, electronic devices and smart phones.  Do they significantly increase the risk of a crash? Larry D. Grayson will be co-chairing and presenting at the ACI's 5th Annual Automotive Product Liability Litigation Conference June 26-27 in Chicago, IL.  His presentation is entitled "Cell Phones, Smart Phones, Navigation/Other Electronic Devices and Beyond: How Defense Counsel Can Use the Distracted Driver Defense as a Shield in Products Cases."

Wendy May is presenting with retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on April 30 as part of a multi-day iCivics event at Baylor University. Wendy also recently co-chaired the North Texas regional meeting of the International Association of Defense Counsel on April 5.
