Partner

Jeff began his legal career with a large international law firm where he handled both products liability and large commercial matters. When Jeff chose to leave in 1999, he picked Hartline as the ideal place to move his practice. He felt Hartline offered the perfect combination of top-tier trial lawyers and mid-size firm flexibility. Jeff’s experience in class actions, mass torts and patent litigation also allowed the firm to grow and expand its practice in new arenas.

For many years, Jeff has been one of only a handful of trial lawyers chosen to handle fire litigation for one of the world’s largest automakers. As a result, Jeff has served as lead counsel in cases from Montana to Florida. This year Jeff was also asked to join a small team of trial lawyers who are tasked with handling thousands of product liability claims currently pending in multi-district litigation in New York.

In addition to handling high profile product liability cases, Jeff spends a considerable amount of time serving as lead and local counsel in patent matters pending in the Eastern District of Texas. Jeff’s patent clients are some of the world’s largest makers of telecommunications equipment and automobiles. Jeff enjoys tackling these highly technical patent cases and using his skills to make the confusing simple.

While his love for the courtroom remains, Jeff has recently embarked on a new passion. At the urging of several friends, Jeff recently obtained the necessary training to serve as a professional mediator. When Jeff is not too busy handling his own docket of cases, he tries to help other attorneys resolve difficult disputes.

A Passion for Wine

Every year, Jeff and his wife travel to a different wine region with the goal of discovering lesser-known vineyards that produce wines not sold in stores. Fashioning himself as a connoisseur of fine wines under $30, Jeff plans someday to own a winery, or start a company that connects small wineries directly with premier restaurants so others can enjoy his discoveries.
