Jeffrey S. Patterson

Partner

Jeff joined the firm soon after its inception and became its first new partner. He began his career participating in a major investigation for an auto manufacturer in order to prepare its defense for an anticipated wave of litigation. Over the years, he has served in a first-chair capacity in numerous trials all over Texas and Arkansas, and has managed cases to resolution in many other states. He has served as Associate Liaison at the firm, training and evaluating new associates, and he continues to teach in-house and external CLE courses, specializing in the art of voir dire, the preparation of foreign and domestic corporate representatives and the ethics and efficiencies of time-keeping. Jeff’s practice has expanded in recent years to commercial and patent litigation, primarily in the Eastern District of Texas where he grew up. Jeff became the firm’s managing partner in 2011.

Snow, Cycles & Snakes

When he’s not successfully representing HDBD’s clients, Jeff can be found on the ski slopes or touring around on one of his motorcycles, including a bike used as an exemplar in a recent trial. Every March, Jeff and some doctors head out to West Texas for the Rattlesnake Roundup, where they camp, drink, shoot, tell stories and occasionally hunt snakes. Catch and release only.
